Job Title: Head of Enterprise Risk and Control/Senior Risk Manager

About the Company:
Komainu is the first regulated digital asset custody solution built by institutions for institutions.
Komainu was established as a Joint Venture between Nomura, Ledger and Coinshares to fill a gap in the marketplace and provide regulated entities with a secure and compliant custody service for investment in digital assets. Since then, the trend of financial services firms adopting digital assets has only accelerated, further increasing the need for regulated and institutional-grade infrastructure for digital assets.
To support the rapid growth of the company and to accelerate the institutional adoption of digital assets, Komainu is actively seeking to onboard best-in-class talent globally.
Role Summary:
The effective management of risk sits at the core of Komainu and is vital to the successful delivery of the firm’s strategy. The role holder will have responsibility for the ongoing development and control management of all aspects of the risk requirements for Komainu.
• Define, develop and maintain the enterprise risk management model. Work with the CEO and Board to set the risk appetite and ensure adherence.
• Use subject matter expertise and industry knowledge to provide independent oversight and credible challenge to all risk management activities, defining, promoting and managing a robust risk culture.
• Ensure market leading risk management becomes a commercial differentiator.
• Potentially take on directorship role for Jersey entity.
• Provide risk management services to all the group entities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain the risk management model; enhance the existing framework to ensure adequate, effective and proportionate identification of the risks across all global products.
• Lead the risk committees at holding company and individual entity levels.

• Develop risk control mechanisms, key risk indicators and appropriate reporting structures.
• Define reporting structures for the escalation of potential issues and solutions.
• Contribute to independent risk assessments of new products, platforms and services ensuring the firm has the expertise to provide guidance on service design and effectively oversee implementation and operation. Run the processes to aggregate views from around the organization so that a coherent overview of the enterprise risk can be presented and reviewed.
o Own, run and contribute to the risk assessment process for new tokens prior to onboarding.
o Own, run and contribute to the risk assessment process for new platforms and services prior to onboarding.
• Review and highlight enterprise risks associated with new business proposals.
• Own, run and contribute to the risk assessment process for new clients.
• Keep up to date with the of the regulatory risk management requirements and build credible relationship with the regulators in all jurisdictions.
• Work with front line process owners and risk owners to continuously improve the operational risk framework, controls and associated reporting to ensure best in class standards.
• Own and/or contribute to policies, procedures and controls where risk is concerned.
• Manage the external audit processes associated with the firm’s compliance with various regulatory certifications such as SOC and ISO across the group.
Undertaking any other such duties as may be reasonably required by the role.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
• Required: Significant senior experience in the risk domain in a financial institution. Experience in custody, prime brokerage or payments/ settlements would be an advantage
• Required: An understanding of digital assets, preferably with experience in the domain
• Required: Knowledge of industry best practice, legislation and regulation relating to core markets
• Required: Strong internal and external stakeholder management skills with experience working in or with multiple jurisdictions
• Required: Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
• Required: Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Required: Keen interest in Fintech/Digital Assets sector
• Required: Right to work in Jersey
