Purpose Deliver sustainable, profitable growth achieving agreed targets by consistently identifying the insurance needs of Islands clients through active prospecting, the provision of excellent broking advice and the compliant sale/servicing of suitable products from a range of Insurers in a manner designed to establish long term and effective relationships with clients. Demonstrate excellent customer service through your product knowledge, behaviours and helping your team deliver agreed standards of service & satisfaction, actively contributing pragmatic suggestions for improvement where possible. Where authority is held personally underwrite business in line with Underwriting authority arrangements to meet clients’ needs and deliver the long term strategy and financial objectives of both Islands and our Insurance suppliers. Working collaboratively with other Islands departments along with the in house Underwriting Team. Accountabilities:
1 Select, sell and service General Insurance products that are designed to meet personal lines and commercial clients long term needs, in a way that is compliant with sales quality, advice standards and regulatory requirements, in order to meet department budgets for profit and growth.

Liaise and negotiate with Islands underwriters and/or approved insurers to obtain appropriate policy cover and terms in a timely manner to meet the identified needs of clients.

Develop and maintain own knowledge and skills to sell and service products professionally and compliantly, delivering a consistently 5* experience to clients to meet the requirements and standards of Islands, our suppliers and our regulators.

Review and evaluate risks in accordance with own underwriting authority limits. Propose and negotiate policy terms in line with Delegated Authority facilities applying the required underwriting principles and standards to ensure a fair outcome for clients whilst meeting the long term financial objectives of insurers providing the authority. Where necessary liaise and negotiate with Islands underwriters. Where required, train, develop and coach less experienced colleagues to ensure they all meet the standards required Build and maintain effective relationships with peers, other departments, preferred suppliers and industry/professional bodies to ensure the effective delivery of and alignment of

objectives and representation of the department. Continually demonstrate behaviours in line with the Company Values as set out in the Employee Behaviour Framework Document. Deliver short term / one-off projects and activities as required by and to the standards and outcomes agreed with your Team Leader or Team Manager.

Qualifications Entry level CII Professional qualification, or a willingness to take part in required training to pursue a career within the Insurance Industry, and to obtain the relevant professional qualification. Experience and Knowledge:
Excellent inter-personal skills and a professional, approachable and friendly manner
Experience of operating in a busy, customer focused environment, either face to face or via the telephone
Experience of sales and the achievement of results in a targeted environment is desirable 1-2 years’ experience in Insurance Broking (specifically Commercial) required
