You will take ownership of the accounting process with particular reference to stock on the balance sheet
Assist in the improvement of financial controls in respect of stock
Attendance at stock takes as appropriate
Monitor inventory transactions and reconcile balances to the ledger
Profit and Loss reporting of direct, fixed and variable costs, including posting of journals
Challenge costs and identify and explain over/under spends
Work with internal teams to review costs within the business with a view of getting value for money
Assist in the development of other members of the team
Work closely with all teams in working towards common goals and objectives
Assist in the preparation of forecasts, budgets and period end packs covering centrally managed costs and stock across the Group
Carry out other related duties as required by the Group Accounting Manager

Knowledge and Experience Required

Have an understanding and appreciation of accounting processes and systems
Retail experience desirable
Part-qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) or qualified by experience

Skills and Competencies

Ability to communicate well with strong interpersonal skills
Highly numerate
Excel skills – intermediate level or higher
Quick learner
High attention to detail required
Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure to meet deadlines
Ability to analyse data, identify risks and opportunities and suggest/implement solutions
