To undertake day-to-day bookkeeping from source documents including banking systems, bank statements, investment valuations, property statements and minutes, along with other sources of information.
To review entity ledgers and bookkeeping records in advance of accounts preparation by accounts preparer.
To notify administration staff of bookkeeping errors or non-compliance with specific bookkeeping procedures, request or undertake corrective action where appropriate and to highlight training issues where necessary.
To assist administrative staff with queries related to bookkeeping and the implementation of the bookkeeping procedures manual.
Liaise with administrators or third parties regarding information required as necessary.
To provide periodic reporting on clients where necessary.
From time to time to undertake specific additional tasks or projects as advised.
Requirements – Skills and knowledge
Thorough understanding of double entry bookkeeping
Thorough understanding of the firm’s bookkeeping procedures manual and the ability to guide and assist others regarding implementation thereof
Sufficient competence in the analysis, posting and reconciliation of third party valuations and statements
Ability to reconcile ledgers with VAT returns and statements received from tax authorities
Basic knowledge of Jersey Trust and Company law / practice
Fully conversant with both manual and computerised accounting systems
Good working knowledge of spreadsheet applications
Liaison with accounts preparer to determine accounting needs of clients and to prioritise work accordingly
