The successful candidate will be a qualified Lawyer with a current practising certificate. Likely qualification will be in England & Wales or another relevant common law, Crown Dependency of COmmonwealth jurisdiction

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Experience working in relevant market and context such as retail banking, in-house financial services or working for a major law firm providing services to the finance industry.
Experience working in a regulatory environment, preferably in relation to financial services
Experience with and an understanding of innovative technologies such as digital banking and services, especially as it applies to the financial services industry
An understanding of cross border legal concepts and multi-jurisdictional businesses.
Relevant legal qualifications with a current practising certificate as a solicitor, barrister or advocate.
The ability and willingness to undertake travel from Jersey to Guernsey, the Isle of Man, the United Kingdom and other countries, as required
Legal knowledge of retail and commercial banking products or other financial services.
Previous legal experience, expected to be more than 4 years PQE
Experience in a relevant role such as a legal associate in a law firm or a major financial institution is expected
Technology skills using current common business computer systems and programmes with the ability to learn new ways of working
The ability to provide high quality legal support to projects and work streams, delivered in a timely and professional manner.
A track record of delivering significant change and transformation which improves business effectiveness in sustainable ways
Self-awareness with the confidence to work independently and take responsibility for personal development and improvement
Excellent written, verbal and other communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
The ability to build effective networks both internally and externally and to create opportunities for others to work collaboratively
Experience of making timely and rational decisions, based on relevant information and experience
Providing legal support to projects and activities systematically, according to accepted business priorities, using a variety of analysis and problem solving techniques
A successful track record of providing legal support to significant and complex business programmes, overcoming challenges to consistently meeting or exceeding objectives
Promoting and leading best practice in risk and compliance management in a similar organisation
Strong ability to deal with a number of stakeholders and to prioritise.
